Astrology and Astronomy are simply different phases of the same discipline. We knew the stars and planets all followed specific paths, and were therefore predictable, as were events on earth, day and night, winter and spring, and we were part of that system, and we extrapolated that it was possible to predict things on earth using the knowledge of those paths and orbits, this form of divination was used the world over, everywhere you could see the sky, and is still fairly credible in many places today.
